It depends on your mail client. That said, I see the purpose of the group as exchanging information among the members, not facilitating private conversations. If you want to reply directly, copy the sender's address from the message header of their mssage and paste into the "to" field. I see no reason to make it harder for people to post on list so it's easier to send lame jokes off list.
This list used to default to sender. Every couple of months we had long threads on changing, and STILL had off-topic posts. I see no advantage to changing back. Pieter Roos. S Scale list co-owner.
