I totally agree.
Most people want specific structures for a specific road. Also the locale
matters as well. Eastern grain elevators are very different from western ones
in appearance.
However, that did not stop me from buying one from Altoona. For some reason he
made an S scale Western grain elevator from Nanton, Alberta, Canada, very
similar to the ones in the US though. Since it is the only Canadian structure
I know of that is available right now, I bought one. It doesn't come close to
fitting into my layout's locale but I like those praire skyscrapers. I can put
a string of boxcars in front and pretend. Now if I could just change my coal
burner to oil burners, then I would be steaming. Nope, all my steamers are
Southern Ontario. There were different classes out west.
