Good Morning, Ed and all,
I thought about this overnight, tossing and turning and considering
the likelihood of this at the prices Ed mentions. It came in a FLASH in the
middle of the night, allowing me at last to submit to sleep. This is an APRIL
FOOL joke. Congratulations, it really had me going.
Consider:
1. It was released on April 1st.
2. It would be more likely if SHS had announced this, who at least have a track
system already lacking only long turnouts or perhaps MTH who have indicated
their interest in S-scale and might go the "pure scale" route. If Lionel were
to improve their track, it would be more likely some form of Dual Standard
track like that from AM but with a universal frog like Tom's Turnout.
3. All the features are on the "wish list" for S-scalers except that 6' long
flex track is impractical for postage.
We will still dream on!
I can now get back to considering a re-run of the White Oak turnouts! Best
wishesDes

Subject: {S-Scale List} New Announcement.....
Just heard that Lionel has announced a full line of S “scale”
track products including #6 and #8 turnouts strictly built to NMRA/NASG
specifications with code 100 rail, detailed simulated wood ties, integral
switch
motor using a worm and worm gear for very slow point movement and a lantern
housing with red/green LEDs. The flex track will come in six foot lengths
and will exactly match the turnouts in appearance. Turnouts will cost
about $18 each and the flex track about $4 per length. The photos look
GREAT!! Lionel sure comes through when ya need ‘em. Ed L.
