Friends,

I recently needed to replace an uncoupler ramp that had failed. I had been
making my own using an idea from local master Gill Freitag.

While operating on another friend's layout, I asked him what he was using. He
showed me some units he was building and offered to build an S friendly version.

Well this past weekend, I proceeded to remove the old unit, which was a chore
unto itself. During the initial installation I simply cut a slot with a sabre
saw and then widened it with a rotary rasp on a power drill to custom fit the
ramp. Of course track and ballast completed the project.

In this removal process, I had hoped to pull the unit down so as to not disturb
the track--wishful thinking! I had to purchase a multi-tool (which is another
complete story I won't go into) that helped enough to where I was finally able
to let me remove the unit. I think this is like a doctor removing tonsils
through one's nose!

Anyway I've now inserted the new unit, but I'm having trouble getting electrons
to move through the wires. When I get that solved, I've got to relay a few
inches of track and I'll once again have a long 30' siding in operation. A
photo of the new ramp next to the old one is in my PhotoTraxx photo album.
