Most of us in this neck of the woods have been following the latest publicity trip of the UP's FEF 844. I think it was due here a few days ago. However, just like our own railroads the big guys have to deal with failed equipment, derailments and nervous/foolish mistakes in the public eye. The UP also has this run of bad luck.

The engine itself is now stuck near Austin, Texas with it's drivers removed. They developed flat spots while trying to stop while a remote controlled helper engine didn't get the message and just kept pushing. Next they did major damage to a tool car that was part of the consist, so it is now on the ground without trucks (scrap ?). All they need now is to fry a decoder or switch machine to malfunction!

Thanks for the update John!
