My S-2 from Overland also failed when it was fairly new. We disassembled the motor and found that one of the brushes had broken loose. We resoldered it to the spring and everything has been fine.

Luther....

In addition to the size, make sure the RPMs are about the same as the original motor. Otherwise the speed of the loco will be different -- which could be good or bad, depending.

It is rare to hear of a motor simply wearing out from too much running. What do you think might have caused it to fail -- if anything? The replacement motor might also fail if the root cause is not determined and fixed.
