why not simplify the whole thing, and rename the award to the 'NASG
AWARD OF THE YEAR
and also create a hall of fame, that they those who might get passed
over, still have a chance
for recognition?

Perhaps someone can explain why the name was changed from
MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR? What was the rationale?
Charlie and his firm were in good company with the other winners of
this award. Did Charlie stand taller by a huge margin than the
other winners? Just curious…..

The Bernie Thomas Award serves this purpose.
Should NASG have a separate annual award for each and every person/
company that does wonderful things for S? The new “SHS Award” and
the new “Lionel Award” and the new “MTH Award” just for starters
would make S life interesting. Why not a new “A.C.Gilbert Award”
in honor of the man who gave birth to us all – sort of? Maybe a
“Verser/Porter Award” for those really nice PRS cars. And so forth
without end…… Or, we could have product awards like “Best Box Car
Award” or “Best Track Product Award” or “Best Diesel Award” and, of
course, the “Best Miscellaneous Award” which would cover everything
not already covered. I sometimes eat lunch in a place with a
plaque on the wall proclaiming “Best Sushi Restaurant 2011”. I
have also been to the “Best Hamburger” place as well.
“S”tirring the pot……Ed L.
