Personally, I like the Hobbytown U-joints because the nylon cup is thick and 
tough.  

On one loco, I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the cup and inserted a 
set screw.  The set screw snugged up against a flat on the metal shaft.  Then a 
slightly larger hole was drilled so that the cup could slip onto the shaft with 
a very minimal press fit -- not quite a slip fit, but close.  End result:  no 
slippage and no stress on the plastic and no cracks.  Works great.  

After all these years, I am still amazed that loco makers still press fit 
plastic parts onto metal parts and expect them to last.  Most give out after 
several years which should not be a surprise to anyone.  Why is it so difficult 
to learn from past mistakes and make improvements?  I am baffled.
