The first floor of my house is about 24 x 42 – not very big…. The basement
is the same size too. So with my layout at about 14 x 32 I took most of it!

My Pop passed last year & there was some inheritance. For about a week I
deluded myself into thinking I would finally get my first love – a 69 Mach
1. I have only waited 35 years to get it! Of course I there would have to be
a garage addition to house it. The Mach 1 idea lasted about 6 seconds with
Donna. It was a tense 6 seconds at that. But I still got the garage addition
because it was a permanent addition of value to the house.

A good consolation to getting the Mach 1 is my shop which I am totally
embracing the idea of having a place to work on things all year round now. I
installed a new heater in December. The new 24000 BTU A C just kicks when
needed. With the workbench out of the basement and some clean up I have the
option of adding about a 24” x 30’ run to the layout if I do a jump across
track form the center to the outside wall. At about ½ way in the 30 feet the
24” expands to 48” so there are layout possibilities like a turntable and
another yard where I did not have the room previously. Much work to the
current part of the layout and organizing needs to be done before I would
consider expansion.
