Up until I bought my present house in 1996, the best I could do was a 20' X 23'
layout in a 1 1/2 car garage. When I contemplated a move to my ultimate
retirement home and could finally build my dream layout I had a laundry list
made up. It included a high ceiling (I'm 6'4"), a dry environment, and a large
footprint (a ranch house). I remember my first phone conversation with our
realtor. She asked what I wanted in a house and I replied immediately with my
list of wants for a basement. There was a pause and finally she said: "What
about the rest of the house".
I told her to speak to my wife.
