The FIVE layouts that PVMR owns or maintains are powered by various
sources. Our 4 X 7 "S" can be either A/C or D/C, by changing locos & power
sources. Glenn's 5 X 8 "S" is powered by an A/F 18-B and he runs classic
Flyer.
 Our soon to be 10 ft ( up from 8' ) X 18 " S " layout can run A/C, D/C &
DCC thanks to efforts of Dave Pierce, who built our relatively simple power
switching system. This was done because members bring in their favorites
to run, Dave must have been there when DCC was invented. ALL A/C-D/C
power comes from 18-B's, the DC Traction power is by Bachmann Spectrum power
paks., 3 of them. Layout will run five trains/trolleys/THOMAS at one time.
Our expanding "O" will be A/C, except that some of the locos are converted
internallly to D/C, most of the rolling stock in "O" is courtesy of
WILLIAMS by Bachmann. The HO layout is D/C, THOMAS & PERCY by Bachmann.
We have no issues with any of the layouts as far as power goes, in fact we
can operate sounds in SHS locos by flipping the A/C-D/C switching system.
The "S" layout is also becoming more scale every season of operation.
The 2 ft by 18 ft addition will be feature scratch built buildings of a
local town.
Most likely, the only layout not displayed in the same room as the others
this year will be the 4 X 7, the rest will be set up side by side or end to
end in the same room and running. Last year we ran 18 trains at one
time.
BTW, we freely answer questions and share any info we have.
