I am about finished with painting a group of O Scale brass S P Automobile
boxcars that are class A-50-6 and A-50-10. For the unknowing like I was last
week they are 50’ door & ½ cars. The A-50-6 is a composite car. The A-50-10
is a steel car – possibly from a rebuild with opening end doors. Like the
many O Scale C&O and N&W hoppers I have painted before these boxcars I have
come to like them. The 50’ door & ½ aspect is not readily available in S
yet. They are in plastic in every other scale. I think there is an old
school wood stick kit that makes a car like this. If I had my choice I would
want what I think is the A-50-9 which is a steel car like the A-50-10
without the opening end doors. The composite car is very interesting but
looks really old and possibly not suitable for my 1957 period.
