Hi Bill --
Amity Star Models (Russ Mobley) did a wood kit of the single sheathed car.
I have one with pre-painted sides, but the kits are 1950s or earlier type of
design and can be greatly improved by using styrene plastic shapes for the
bracing. One might even consider using bashed molded plastic roof (I have
not checked photos of the real car to see what kind of roof it has) from one
of the AM/SHS/PRS cars, though it would take two for a 50’ car... I think
the SP ran these cars well into the 50s, though they were certainly gone
with the last of steam.

... S P Automobile boxcars that are class A-50-6 and A-50-10. ...they are 50’
door & ½ cars. The A-50-6 is a composite car. ...I think there is an old
school wood stick kit that makes a car like this.
Thank You,
Bill Lane
