I have never had a Kadee spiker, but when hand-laying, I glue the rail to the 
ties and let dry before spiking.  I use a cyanoacrylate glue from Bob Smith 
Industries' (http://www.bsi-inc.com/) called "INSTA-CURE+" for this.  So far I 
have had no troubles... even left one 7 (actual) foot stretch of track unspiked 
for like a month once with no problems, but I did cut expansion gaps in the 
rail at about every two (actual) feet.
