I have never had a Kadee spiker, but when hand-laying, I glue the rail to the ties and let dry before spiking. I use a cyanoacrylate glue from Bob Smith Industries' (http://www.bsi-inc.com/) called "INSTA-CURE+" for this. So far I have had no troubles... even left one 7 (actual) foot stretch of track unspiked for like a month once with no problems, but I did cut expansion gaps in the rail at about every two (actual) feet.
