he very large Cuyahoga Valley S Gaugers scale layout was all done with a Kadee
spiker. The framewrk was done in Kim Koski's shop. ALL the track and scenery
was done in my basement . I did not do it . George Rickets and others did the
track. It worked. You should have seen my electric bill for 3 months. Quite a
large group worked
We had that layout at Madison , Wis.

What is a spiker worth? I have one for Codes 7 & 100, and boxes of spikes. At
90 I'm backing out S except for traction modeling.

  Dave,

Yes I have. I used it extensively when I was building my last layout. When
you hold it just right it worked great. The real problem was that it was
designed to spike HO track so you have to turn it slightly for the outrigger
wings to lay flat. If and when I start to build again I may modify and extend
the "wings" slightly so it will stay vertical and in line. I also have the
Code 70/83 adapter as I was using Code 83 in yards and sidings.

That said the late Lorrell Joiner built the O scale Great Southern with a
Kadee spiker and he seemed to make it work just fine and he used Code 125 rail.

Hi all, anyone here ever built S scale track with a kadee spiker? I've got
lots of code 100 rail and was thinking I might hand lay some of the track on my
new layout but it takes a lot of time to hand spike long runs so I was
wondering if a spiker would be a good way to go?....DaveBranum
