I think it has a DCC interface board (there is a smaller board under the large decoder board into which pins connect). It is not hard-wired directly to the decoder. I think this is an original "from the factory" DCC installation.

Not having any experience, though, I would suspect that both the F3 and F7 would have the same installation. The F3 decoder shows up in DecoderPro in the same "SHS Diesels" category, so they are probably the same decoders. Pure speculation on my part, though.
