Bob:

The Southern Crescent was a real family affair. The crew took great pride in
their train, and even we headquarters guys took a lot of pride in that train.

I remember one night in particular, I was riding north out of Atlanta on a
Friday night, and on TV that night was the Johnny Cash train music special,
partly recorded on the Southern Crescent. After dinner in the diner, we all
gathered in the sleeper-lounge. The lounge car attendant had brought his own
portable TV, and we attempted to watch the Johnny Cash special -- constantly
manipulating the rabbit ear antennae as the Crescent rolled northward. When
the Crescent appeared on the screen, a cheer went up in the lounge car.

Good times and a great railroad.

Dan
