But hauling a trainload of coal hoppers would not look silly!  Shays were
used for more than hauling logs and several Class 1 railroads owned them.
They were usually used for steep branches but sometimes for switching power.
The most famous example is probably Western Maryland Shay #6.  The C&O also
owned several, including more than half of the 150 ton, Class D (four-truck)
Shays Lima built.   NYC had some the were enclosed for switching that
involved some street trackage.  And there were more, but I need to get to
the basement.
