Sorry Admin.
I just have to talk about my Flyer so you can moderate me if you like.
Last week I sold all my Flyer off except two to a collector in one 'swell foop'
or maybe that's one's fell swoop. I had it since I was four.
I had been agonizing about the amount of work to sell it for some time but
managed to get a guy who wanted only two items that were rather rare to take it
all. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! Whoohoo! Yes! Finally! End of an era! Only took 55
years!
I did keep two gondolas for one of the list members who models P64. Apparently
they are good for some Frisco thing. Ahem, I will bring them to the convention
for said list member. I won't mention your name for fear of you being
moderated for being a closet Flyer guy.
I feel so much better now. The pain in my head has diminished somewhat. My
vision is starting to return. Maybe my arthritis will go into remission. (Now
that is a long shot.)
With all those boxes gone, I have more room to build that dream layout of
Inglewood, Ontario which had a small branchline Union Station for the CPR/CNR.
This is actually a change from what I was planning to do before when I was
modelling Park Head/Wiarton/Owen Sound which was only CNR!
It also means that I can build some really neat CPR steamers, like the Jubilee,
4-4-4. I can finally get in touch with my 'inner CPR'. It is really great
that Des Plaines has a wood CPR caboose kit of which I have almost built 3.
Now I need a few more!
What prompted me to go through with it was the fact that my wife and I spent
two and a half months cleaning out my parents' house after my mother finally
got into a retirement home. My folks being from the 'Depression Era' kept
everything, including the boxes. I do not want to saddle my kids with that
problem so I have decided to get rid of a lot of stuff.
Then again...better to get rid of the stuff that sells quickly and easily and
let them worry about the S scale stuff that will be hard to sell. Like who
really would want a scratch built CNR Pacific out there? Not too many I'd
wager. Hah, sweet revenge for all that Barbie stuff they made us store for all
those years and then finally give it away! And no, the Barbie stuff was not
collectible.
Life is actually okay sometimes.
Please moderate at will for Flyer/Barbie content.
cheers, eh?
