This is probably the same importer who accidentally brought in brass HO locos
with 6-volt motors instead of the usual 12-volt motors. As the supposedly-true
story goes, he received two complaints about too-fast running out of a
production run of 500. This all happened back in the 1970s allegedly. Things
have improved in the brass world since then.

One newer rumor is that all small electric motors on our layouts (in locos and
others) are probably made in the same factory in China. Apparently the world's
largest manufacturer of fractional horsepower motors can build darn near
anything anyone would ever want. Possible exceptions would be the very
high-end Swiss motors like Maxon and the perennial Pittman, etc. Just think
what would happen to our hobby if that factory burned down?

Gads, what a thought.

Cheers...Ed L.
