I too am celebrating just over a year in S scale.  Such a perfect size!
Just spent an hour running a pair of SHS SW9's over track that hasnt been run 
on in months about 2 smph and stall free and derailment free.  The derailment 
free is a must and thus far that's pretty standard.
What amazed me is they run so well on relatively dirty track!  In 2 rail O w/ 
DCC, they stalled over the slightest spot.

You RI fans are not going to like what I'm doing to a RS3 weathering wise, but 
it works Ol' Ben No. 1 coal m
Ne and therefore, looks the part or will after more weathering.
