If you have watched any clips at the top of my page
http://www.lanestrains.com/SolidWorks_Modeling.htm you would see how these
items are formed.

As the laser is moving around some of the first things that formed are
supports. They probably look a lot like the mounting pins you are asking
about. As the item is built these supports hold the still very fragile item
in place. Since the best surface is always "up" the "worst" side is always
down - which in the grab iron case includes the wanted mounting pins.

They have to be removed from the machine and cleaned up to get the supports
removed with some sanding. Hopefully no pins get broken there. I get them to
my caster. He makes the mold. Hopefully no pins get broken there. He casts
them. Hopefully no pins get broken there and I get a complete item.

So I tried my best to make an exact replacement but there is only so much I
can do. This process is not injection molding of plastic. Lots of things
beyond my control have to go perfectly.

And since the master patterns are in a box heading towards my caster there
will be not changes at this point.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
