Hi Bill --

I mentioned it here before, but I will repeat ---

Add a branch line with a wye at the end and a turntable in your main yard, or
another wye at the junction. Then you will have something that will require a
bit of “play”. Wyes are generally much less trouble than turntables, and
take up less room than you would think if you use three wye turnouts. If you
want to do something a bit different, build a "scissors" wye.

I still have the “loop” in the form of a folded eight, but when you just want
to see those really good looking scale S trains go by, that is the way to go.
I can literally watch a single train go by many times before it is time to put
it away... It’s an ”instant replay” kind of thing.

Have fun!

...
Recently it occurred to me that MOST layouts are “just a loop”. ...
... I have a branch line in my head that is possible now that the workbench is
in my shop. It would add another yard with about 30 feet more of benchwork and
possibly a turntable which **I really want**… hopefully it will happen but if
not I will continue on with what I started.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
