I am not convinced this is a fair characterization of Kadee. After all Kadee
has many different HO couplers that work fine in S and S-narrow. They also
have two different S couplers (brown and black) that seem to be quite popular.
And they also have some On3 couplers that are very adaptable to S in seconds
(bend the trip pin).
Perhaps the reason why AM (dummy) and SHS (working) are the only firms to ever
make couplers truly for the S market is that there are not enough of us to
warrant a specific coupler that is perfectly sized with authentic appearance
which mates flawlessly with all the existing Kadee products. That is actually
quite a challenge. More money can be made easier elsewhere I am sure. Ed L.
