Other than drilling and tapping holes for the trucks it was not filed or sanded in any way. I took it out of the box from my caster and gave it a very quick Floquil paint job so y'all can see how nice it is. It is very rigid. There is not much flex at all. I am pretty happy with the first sample. I talked to my caster today. He assured me production bodies will be better. I will be making a new website page for this project soon. But for now here is what is going to happen. Price = $40.00 each for 1) urethane body and 1) floor ONLY + $8.00 flat rate shipping per order via USPS without insurance to 48 states regardless of the number of cars ordered. If you are outside the US we will have to discuss when your shipping rate will be. UPS shipping is also available at a to be determined rate. I am accepting payments now. I am hoping to ship this year. After the purchase of basic body and floor all items will be ala carte. You can buy them or not - it is up to you. Once I get payments in hand for 50 cars I will start the design for the brass details which will include the difficult to make stirrup steps, draft gear for the 802 coupler and 2 brake wheels. Price for the detail parts will be determined at a later date. Besides the brass details I am not supplying anything else - but it is really a very simple car. Almost none of the brake components are visible on the car. The floor on the real car is not meant to be removable. The model floor had to be loose to cast. I am investigating to see if a floor can be made in pewter to give the car some weight. I am hoping that with the pewter floor and SSLS trucks you will be able to run the car without a load if you want. Most flat cars are too light to run empty. Also once I hit the 50 car mark I will advise my friend John to start on making the decals. Fred at S Scale Loco & Supply will be busy making the Buckeye trucks. When ordering the trucks from Fred you should see if there is anything else you need from him since his Grand Reopening. This fellow S Scalers is 100% WHY I made THIS car - so Fred would get a much needed boost to get restarted. Long term S Scalers making items by and for other S Scale modelers. It's a beautiful thing! I will have the sample F33 car at the CJSS meet this Saturday and will be taking orders there as well. I have already decided what my next car I will be producing. It is a late steam era car, and for good or bad you can't possibly want just one of them! I am gathering data and drawings for it now for a hopeful late winter or early spring delivery.
