Warning! Another locomotive reassignment.

Since I'm probably the basis for the title of this thread, would anybody be
interested in a RARE Locomotive Workshop FA/FB-2 set? If I could sell them for
enough, I might replace them with an AM FA-2 A-A or A-B set in Rock Island
colors

On reliability issues with early Alco diesels, I wonder what would have
happened if ALCO had invested a little more R&D in their engines while they
were forbidden to sell road power during WWII?

On the other hand, how could the RR's be so enthralled with early GE's and so
apparently disappointed with Alcos. Some roads, such as TP&W, swore by them,
while other roads, such as Santa Fe, swore at them. I remember during a
locomotive shortage in the late 1970's, Santa Fe chose to use broken down EMD
locomotives in yard service rather than spend $15,000 to put a string of stored
ALCO S-4's back in service.

If memory serves me, the S-2 we had on Keokuk Junction was a reliable engine.
