I have used the 827118 in an OMI E-6 for years without any problem in terms of
amp draw. Although the layout has grades, the loco isn't taxed significantly by
pulling a consist of plastic cars. But your proclivity for brass cars might be
an issue.
The dual EMD versions have only been out for less than a year. I bought one
with the idea of swapping it for the one in the E-6. I haven't got it done yet,
but when listening to the demos on Soundtraxx's website, I felt the difference
was noticible enough to make the change.
