Brian: This is a reason I still use some LokSound decoders. ESU seems to have more selection for "unique" sounds. They list a non-turbocharged Alco 539 which should be the ticket for an S-1.
I have had pretty good luck using the LokSound decoders on top of an NCE motor decoder in diesels. I know Bill doesn't like it and I agree with him on steam, never have gotten a dual decoder to perform the way I wanted on steam sounds, but diesels have worked better. One other thing - step one is to throw away the speaker LokSound supplies and get one from Rail Master!
