Rich,

You nailed with your last sentence. "cut both Liomel and MTH some slack". Time
will tell.

Lionel made scale wheelsets available to purchasers of the first run of U33C's
at no extra charge. Included with the locomotive are brackets for the Kadee
805.

The second run of U33C's and first run of SD70ACe's are available to be ordered
with scale OR hiral wheelsets.

Now, that said, Lionel is still fumbling around regarding the scale side. It's
unclear exactly what they mean by "scale wheels and trucks" for the cylindrical
covered hopper. I've leaarned to be a little skeptical of printed copy from
both Lionel and MTH.

Right now, I'm taking it to mean they're not installing the standard clunky
Flyer Bettendorf truck but installing a scale proportioned truck with better
metal wheelsets. I don't seriously believe that these won't be packaged ready
to roll for a Flyer layout.

In their TCA presentation they said something about a coupler mounting pad, but
the test shot of the cylidrical hopper whizzed by pretty quick. The TCA
cameraman was more concered showing the O gauge verion. I'm afraid we're going
to have to wait until these things show up.

But, we're going to have to cut both Lionel and MTH some slack. They're not
used to dealing with us.
