Bill, You have brought up an interesting situation about all of those
great gentlemen/members/modelers who have passed since the NASG was
formed. Better or worse, the members of this group will be getting
larger all the time. Additionally who decides who deserves that honor?
In some cases awards were given out in the past that haven't honored
anybody in several years--I remember the John Sudimak award was once
given out and then there was a Charlie Stackpoole award if my memory is
correct--have these gone by the wayside? Since I missed the last
convention, I'm not even certain if the Tony Peerless award had a candidate.
Anyway it's better to have received an award while you're alive!

I'm not sure it is my place to write this, but
........................ this is how I see it: Bob Jackson was in the
Frank Titman, Wally Collins class of S modelers. Bob did lots and lots
over the years for us, one, being editor of our NASG Dispatch and
also his doing a very complete history on S Gauge. Bob wasn't always
happy with our Yahoo S list and many of us conversed off list with Bob
on various S gauge subjects, but I'm sure he read it most days.
I'm sure someone closer to these two great men will step forward and
do a proper obit on Bob and Jack Sudimak for their edification in our
NASG Dispatch. Also, possibly having our BOT come up with an
Honorarium as well, like we have done for other most significant S
modelers in our past.
Bob and Jack will be missed.
I send prayers to all in this time of sadness and need.
"S"incerely,
Bill (FRaley)
