Just back from the Fest, tired and ready for a good night sleep. On the way
down, there was that little anticipation of a great time, and it was; but
really by the end of the day, my Fest Fun Meter was pegged and I knew I had no
more capacity for Festing. About the only regret was that Jim Kindraka didn't
stop by. It would have been good to see him but I am sure there will be
another time to talk. I saw Bob Ristow, that was fun. I remember driving to
Milwaukee many years ago and sitting at Jim Kindraka's kitchen table with he
and Bob, working out the very first S Module plans, I can see the other guy
with us but cannot come up with a complete name. It had to be in the 80's
sometime, I think I have some of the original plans somewhere.
I met Mike Ostertag from the Green Bay area, I need to keep this short as I
promised to go look for winterization window extensions for him. Nice guy, I
look forward to having him visit sometime. He is a great addition to the S
fold. I also met another new S modeler from the Chicago area. Wade will be
meeting with the Des Plaines Valley folks so he will be in great company.
Beyond that it was of course fun to see all the other friends, a couple times,
I saw a guy in poor light but he wore a Badgerland Blue shirt and Blue ball cap
with a shock of grey hair showing and in the bad light my mind told me it was
Chuck Porter. Of course it was not but it was good to think of Chuck and how
enjoyable it was when you would hear his laugh and voice when he came into the
room. I think you always heard him before you saw him but that smile was a day
brightener.
I showed off the Monster Modelworks cobblestone sheets I received to some of
the guys who enjoy building things. That is something fun that can be done
better in person rather than over the internet.
Anyway, enough of my rambling on, enjoy your week and get down to the train
room and have some fun.

Ken
