Thanks Ken, sorry I did not make it to S Fest. It's nice to be "missed" - I think!!? I too greatly miss Chuck, the great conversations and his rumpled hat...
I had the chance to spend the day one on one with my favorite hobby shop owner in Des Plaines so I took it - maybe I got the chance cuz everyone else was in Waukesha! Anyway, talked projects, sundry scuttlebutt and got to see and hold the 'new' U33 paint schemes from Lionel, all now on the market and the new 50' BAR "State of Maine car. The D&H paint scheme is outstanding and even the black Penn Central is well done. As with most things, the price is up... Loads of other neat little goodies I'm not sure we all realize are available in S. As you are aware Ken, DPH is a "must see" if you are anywhere in the area. I also dragged out some old Kinsman and other kit built models from days gone by. Spent part of the evening upgrading trucks and wheel sets to code 110 so the cars would run better in DPV trains. With a little luck I'll have some pictures to post... Sam McCoy and Alan Zelinski showed up later at DPV to report on their fun in Janesville and the Fest.
