That is most likely the best approach, Bill. I have two real CPR Piper caboose markers (that are complete) which I fire up when I am at the cottage. I use real coal oil or kerosene. They are not really that bright unless you crank them up to where there is smoke coming out of the chimneys and I have only seen that occasionly on switch stands. You can see them well when looking dead on at the lenses though. Most of the time we run our model pikes at day time and when these are on during the day, they don't really appear to be on.

My only problem with working markers of any sort is that they lock in the direction of the model that they are placed on. If anyone comes up with a way to remove them, put them on either end and still work, I'm in.
