I'm modeling the PRR on 10/15/54. If we we really slow our trains down, could they make a run through ! ! ? ? Meanwhile, I have some real progress to report. When I was little, the Christmas Eve ritual was to go down to the Pennsy station in Canton and pick up my grandparents, who would be arriving on the Trailblazer from Chicago. Forget Santa and his reindeer. Christmas was about passenger trains. This year I intend to replicate that in my basement. The goal is to commemorate the Miracle of the Exploding Winerack (I think some of you have heard this inspiring Christmas legend from my basement) by running a PRR passenger train around the entire loop on Christmas Eve. I am getting very close! With the help from a friend from work, I have been making huge progress on the layout. I have all but about 3 feet of the PRR main line loop laid. I also have the passing siding laid through the upper Mount Union yard. Tonight we worked on DCC wiring .By the end of the evening I was able to run a test train of my longest passenger cars (pulled by an F unit) and also my PRR I1 Decapod around key parts of the layout to test clearances and radii. Everything seems to be working as planned. Stay tuned. My wife Ginny is talking, somewhat prematurely, about the need to scratchbuild a golden spike. Lee Rainey
