The USRA 0-6-0 comes prewired with a DCC plug. It also has a DC diode
lighting module installed at the factory for the; headlight, back up light and
cab light for running on DC with the shorting plug installed. The model comes
with light bulbs
Before you just cut the wires open the boiler front and un plug the
headlight. There is enough length to the headlight wire with the plug. Me
being the idiot that I am just went snip, snip, snip. Then I looked, nice.
My choice was to install a Tsunami. There appears to be enough room to
mount it above the motor in the boiler. Like Mr Lane I will be installing the
speaker in the boiler pointing up to the stack. There will be 3 wires running
back to the tender though. Two for the backup light and one for tender power
pick up.
I considered making up all wheel power on the tender and installing a
separate decoder just for the tender light but all of that programming makes my
ears turn inside out and I get nose bleeds from the higher level of intellect
required.
I did make a new, shorter drawbar and trimmed the tender apron. I used a
0.700" hole to hole center on the new drawbar and made it out of 20 gauge
nickel silver.
