I decided to take a break from main line wiring (in a burst of over-confidence, perhaps, on my ability to meet the deadline) and worked on laying two more switches and wiring the first section of dual gauge track -- the coal delivery track into the Harbison Walker brick plant. I celebrated by running the layout's first narrow gauge train -- a D&RGW Mudhen that happened to be in the yard after bringing in a run-through from Gunnison. (In other words, my EBT locos do not yet have DCC.) All went well.
This also gave me a good confirmation of the minimum radius for the dual-gauge country -- orginally tested on a homasote-and-flex-track mockup but now testable for real. And that all worked out also. This is starting to feel good. Lee Rainey
