Brian, I'm glad you brought that up! I would wonder how Lionel or any
other manufacture deals with the size--diameter in total of the
drivers. Since they have to leave room between them in the hi-rail
version--if you then replace the hi-rail with scale flanges doesn't the
gap between the drivers become excessive? Might this be the reason SHS
used blind drivers on their steam engine. I've only glanced at the
Southwind 2-8-0 in Hi-rail, but I suppose my scale version is spaced too
far because nobody is going to design two frames, connecting rods or two
sets of driver diameters to get it correct.
