Bob et al,
I was delighted to see the responses. The thread I mentioned is one of many
that run on the Model Railroad Hobbyist site at
http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com
Just go there and on the right hand side of the home screen click on "recent
posts" to get all the latest threads. A lot of them are HO or N specific, but
there are a lot of posts of general interest as well.
MRH is a free e-zine that it easy to join. It's like an internet version of
Model Railroader in that the readership has the usual mix of scales with HO
leading the way. They also publish a monthly magazine in .PDF format or as part
of the website. It's a good read. Their advertisers include several that have
things available in S scale.
I've tried several times in the past to get S scalers interested in belonging
so that we could have a good representation on the magazine website. As Bob
said, its a great way to get exposure for S. The idea of having a "Flat
Stanley" approach to a Spiral Hill car is a good way to get us going. The
weekly picture thread has some really nice photos of folks modeling efforts and
it's a real challenge to provide good competitive shots. I try to come up with
pictures almost every week, but we need more S scalers to contribute. Also,
they pay for any articles that get published in the e-zine.
It's interesting to note, but after all Frank did for S scale, his
contributions could live on in the form of his Spiral Hill cars.
