The first batch of MTH SD70ACes produced were DCS/DCC and DC but the DCC was
not totally compatible in that there were no speed match CVs accessible. There
were other minor incompatibilities but they ran well on DCC and DC. MTH
listened - how many do - and the second and subsequent batches were compatible.
They also produced a DCC ready variant (not in the original plan but introduced
by demand) so you could (and can) fit whatever decoder you want. Subsequent
locos issued have been to theses standards BUT many HO modellers had a down on
the MTH because of the first batch and haven't had a look at the later ones.
MTH may be many things but they do listen to the customer base and are willing
to change things IF a good reason is given, now if that ain't reminiscent of
SHS what is. The speculation as to what MTH will produce is valid, we all want
to know but don't have down on them before they've even started.
