So the major complaint is with the electronics?

Not with scale fidelity. Not with the mechanisms. Not with the quality of the
paint jobs.

If MTH gets the scale bits, mechanism and pain job right; I'll be more than
happy. I can certainly deal with goofed up electronics. It's real easy if you
run DC (even easier if you're string-powered).

I do run DCC, so if the MTH board doesn't work, I'll carefully cut it out and
sell it to the guy who has the MTH system and wants to expand it to non-MTH
locomotives. Add the NMRA DCC of my choice to my stuff and I'm off and
running. Other than some of the SHS stuff, I have to do this anyway, so this
really isn't a burden. Really, the hard part is already done since the lights
are mounted and ready to wire (and MTH does the ditch lights).

If the major complaint is the MTH DCC, this is a BIG positive!!
