FYI:
Yesterday (28 January 2013) David Avedesian and I visited MTH's home office
in Columbia, MD and were given a tour of their showroom. It featured a large,
professionally done layout running several trains, two large scale and three O
scale. On three of the four walls were glass shelves containing a number of MTH
O scale products - motive power and rolling stock - produced over the years
(with a few HO and large scale). All were generally well done; several of the
engines were exquisite. We chatted a bit with Bob, the individual running the
trains for us. His "regular" company job is taking the design and paint schemes
from specifications and drawings to a production model for further action.
After the tour, we met briefly with another SHS official who showed us an
unpainted production model of a box car. Of more interest, however, was this
official's statement that the MTH S scale catalogue is expected to be "on-line"
this week.
