Bob, A few comments:
The photo referenced as an 8' IH car is not. 39731 is an 8'9" IH car built 1913 with the underframe described below. The 8' cars built in 1916-17 did not have the steel fishbelly, only straight center steel sills. The other statements are a mishmash of those series. The photo for the 10' car is also incorrectly referenced. More info on these can be found here: http://www.sunshinekits.com/sunimages/sun77.pdf http://www.steamerafreightcars.com/gallery/boxauto/np40512main.html Note there were indeed 520 cars, but they had an AAR design underframe, not the fishbelly underframe stated below. They also did not have a 6/5/5 end of any kind. As an AAR derived design, they used the 4/5 Dreadnaught commonly used during the period. All I did for the roof was ask; others had the information you needed. Credit them. The NH did not use cars considerably similar to these. Hope this helps, Earl Tuson > Read Bob Hogan's research below on the various NP radial roof boxcars. > There is a fourth version of the 8' version with a shallow fishbelly > underframe like the ART reefer that also had truss rods.
