I still have a bunch of the old Pittman open frame motors used in the old SSL&S
engines. They are probably from Claude's stock. They measure 1.068" wide by
1.387" high by 1.48" long not counting the round bosses at the shaft.

My can motor is 1.084" in diameter by 1.491" long not counting the bosses.
There should be no problem fitting it in any of the old SSL&S engines. It fits
in the etched Lt.Pacific and 0-8-0 etched boilers I have here. Some work on the
bottom inside of the firebox edges would be necessary but no more than required
for the old Pittman.

I used one of these in AM Pacific long ago so the motor was not as visible in
the cab.

The can motor is 4000 RPM with lots of torque. I got these for my USRA Mike
project that was shelved when the Lionel AF Mike came out. The motor shaft is
2.4mm with very light splines so a bushing is needed for the SSL&S worm gear.

Bill Lane must have gotten the mesh just right as the old SSL&S coffee grinder
noise is thankfully missing from his RDG engine.
