Ben, Yes this is made via a 3D printer by Shapeways. You can get it made in lots of different types of materials depending on the quality and strength.
All that is needed is your favorite item converted into a 3d type file and submit. I took drawings and photos and had a cad expert convert them into a 3D file for me. To get quality it is not cheap but you get what you want. There is no way that anything will be produced for what I need at the quantity I want so this is my alternative.
