Good evening:
I received this quote from John at www.pknd.com for Electroliners in S Scale.
THORIN
I HAVE GONE OUT AND REQUESTED QUOTES FOR THE S SCALE ELECTROLINERS GOT
QUOTES FROM TWO SEPARATE SOURCES.
SIT DOWN SIT DOWN SIT DOWN AND PUT ON YOUR SEAT BELT & GET A GOOD STRONG
SOME THING TO DRINK
BASICALLY THE PRICING IS SIMILAR ALL IN US DOLLARS THIS IS TOOLING CHARGES

THE ABOVE PRICING IS A DRAFTING CHARGE TO DO THE ARTWORK WHICH I HAVE NO INPUT
THIS IS A NEW WAY OF DOING MODELS I INTEND TO LEARN THIS SYSTEM BUT IT WILL
TAKE A WHILE FOR ME TO GET GOOD AT IT
QUOTED PRICE FROM DRAFTER WHO LIVES IN FRANCE WHO'S SAMPLES LOOKED GOOD WITH
SOME TWEAKING (DRAFTING THE ENTIRE CAR WITH TRUCK FRAMES, UNDERBODY PARTS
AND
INTERIOR FOR GOOD QUALITY S-SCALE MODEL WOULD MEAN 8 DAYS OF WORK PROBABLY
EVEN
A LITTLE MORE COUNTING $250.00 FOR A DAY IT WOULD MEAN A TOTAL OF $2000.00
THE ONLY PROBLEM I SEE IS THAT HE LIVES IN FRANCE AND THE KITS WOULD BE MADE
THERE IF YOU WANT I CAN TALK TO SEVERAL MODELERS WHO HAVE USED HIM AND SEE IF
ANY CONCERNS EXIST
BECAUSE OF THE HIGH TOOLING COST IT WOULD BE WISE TO BE SURE THERE ARE ENOUGH
PEOPLE INTERESTED TO SHARE IN THE TOOLING COST UP FRONT
LET ME KNOW YOUR VERDICT JOHN
I am kicking in $200.00 (10%) for the mold work. Once the molds are paid for,
each completed set would probably retail for about $200.00. (John will set the
final price.) John has always given me a 10% - 20% discount when I pay for the
mold work. The models will still be missing paint, trolley poles, and power.
I
plan to receive one (1) Electroliner. I estimate you can complete your model
for about $400.00 with two powered trucks. My cost will be higher because I
will add Con-Cor's Electroliner DCC sound decoder. Yes, Con-Cor sells their
decoders WITHOUT a model -- they are so listed on the website. The real
Electroliners have four power trucks; the center truck is not powered.
I know this is a big price tag but remember this is a really four interurbans
lashed together so the unit price is much lower. John works fast. I estimated
delivery would be either late this year or early next year.
Anyone else interested? If so, contact John at [email protected]. Just remember to
put 'KND' into the subject line so it gets sorted from John's business e-mails.
