Hi Everyone,

I recently converted a powered HO Bachmann speeder to Sn3, and have
posted three photos of it to the Photos section. It took me about 9
hours to complete the conversion, working slowly so I didn't screw
anything up. :-) The first photo shows the body of the speeder with
a B&S front laid on top of the HO body. They are exactly the same
size. The speeder is mostly white metal, with some plastic parts.
I chose to modify the existing body rather than try to cut off the HO
parts and substitute B&S parts. The wheelbase of the Bachmann
speeder is about 1/4" longer than the B&S speeder, but since these
things were built in different sizes I don't think that's a problem.
This thing runs quite well and looks great patrolling my layout.
The other two photos show the speeder next to my 0540 caboose for
size comparison. The figure is an Artista one. I had to file his
butt down a little to get him to sit right, and I had to file is
right elbow a little. I think I'll replace the box he's sitting on
with a seat for some back support. I made some decals with a road
number, "Safety First" and "Rio Grande" speed lettering to dress it
up. Paint used was Scalecoat reefer yellow and silver, and some
custom mixed 'weathered black' for the underbody.

I often saw these speeders on both the narrow gauge and standard
gauge when railfanning in Colorado, and always wanted a powered one
for my railroad. It brings back a lot of fond memories!

Look for the folder titled "Sn3 Speeder or Pop Car"

Best regards,
Wayne Hills"
