Hi Bill --

No doubt this is an improvement in many ways. I noticed the duct avoidance
when I was there... Thanks for showing the layout and then getting us to a
place to stay. We got weathered out of Philly the next day, but that allowed
us to catch other things on the way west that probably would not have made the
cut before.

Have fun!

Since first putting up the layout I knew it was going to be close to clearing a
HVAC duct with the backdrop. The backdrop did not clear it. I put it up “quick
n dirty with some gaps knowing it would be complete done over.

I figured if I inserted a small straight section in the curves - it would look
better than a 180 turn around - and clear the duct but make access to the
washer & dryer tight. The new layout straight sections are 13” x 30” - the
smallest I have ever made!

So I made a platform raising up the washer and dryer, over the main house drain
pipe and stuffing it far into the corner of the basement. When I ran a 110v
line around the layout so I don’t need extension cords I even allowed some
slack in the Romex.

I thought this was going to be a winter project. Why I did it now I am not sure
but it is mostly done. I gave up plenty of sweat so doing it in the winter
would have been better. I walked ½ of the layout outwards 13” by myself in
about ½ hour. This is the beauty of making sectional layouts! I did this
without cutting one wire!

I should have the trains running again today.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
