Since first putting up the layout I knew it was going to be close to
clearing a HVAC duct with the backdrop. The backdrop did not clear it. I put
it up “quick n dirty with some gaps knowing it would be complete done over.

I figured if I inserted a small straight section in the curves - it would
look better than a 180 turn around - and clear the duct but make access to
the washer & dryer tight. The new layout straight sections are 13” x 30” -
the smallest I have ever made!

So I made a platform raising up the washer and dryer, over the main house
drain pipe and stuffing it far into the corner of the basement. When I ran a
110v line around the layout so I don’t need extension cords I even allowed
some slack in the Romex.

I thought this was going to be a winter project. Why I did it now I am not
sure but it is mostly done. I gave up plenty of sweat so doing it in the
winter would have been better. I walked ½ of the layout outwards 13” by
myself in about ½ hour. This is the beauty of making sectional layouts! I
did this without cutting one wire!

I should have the trains running again today.

Bill Lane
