I'm pretty sure PBL would refund the deposits if the Climax were to be cancelled.
Part of the reason PBL isn't mentioning price is because the final price will be somewhat dependent on how many models are reserved. A fully tricked-out foreground model (painted, lettered, weathered, glazed, crew figures, ESU DCC/sound) of the recent 60 ton Shay was just north of $1800 and that was mainly because the builder absorbed the material and labor increases that were happening over the course of the project, which was several years. The 60 ton Shays were essentially built to order and are sold out, I expect the Climax would be likewise. So, if you REALLY want/need/desire/lust a Climax, place your deposits. It will be a little jewel. There probably won't be another one for decades. It was 24 years between Shays. There will be few to zero Climaxes "left over" and their price likely won't be discounted. NOTE: I have no connection with PBL other than a very satisfied Shay owner.
