Having been addicted to chatlists for going on fifteen years now, I am starting
to think there is a life-cycle to most of them. Initially there is quite a bit
of interest and energy invested and quite a lot of useful information.
Eventually, over time, most of the major interests and concerns are addressed
and they move into a sort of holding pattern with only occasional posts from
experienced members or perhaps a new member who has not yet read the archives
where likely his concern has already been discussed (perhaps at length).
For myself, I find it increasingly easy to stop and ask myself before posting
"Is this message really necessary?" More often than not, the answer is in the
negative. Mostly I post only when I encounter something unfamiliar where I
seek the experience and wisdom of the group. I think I posted a lot more
several years ago when I first succumbed to the blandishments of S scale than I
do now, not that I know everything about S scale, but that the gaps of
knowledge are less frequent and less major.
And for the occasional thread that continues ad nauseam, I try very hard not to
contribute where there was usually not much light to begin with and increasing
heat. And this is probably my last contribution to this particular thread.

You're right boB. This list does seem to be
MUCH quieter than when I was last active in S scale.

Don't know what happened while I was gone...
but a very different list exists now.

'Tis a bit of a shame, actually, for I was looking
forward to the fun interaction here that I remembered when active in S scale
previously.

Upside: Doesn't seem to
be mini-flamefests as often either.

Oh well... it is what is has become... or something
like that.

I guess you and I can chat it up here,
huh???

Along that line: What brand of string do you
prefer?

(After doing some preliminary examining to see what
will be involved to cram a Tsunami TSU-1000 decoder w/sound and a Railmaster
Bass Reflex speaker into an AM S-12 Baldwin... I may need to join you on the
string thing!)

The board's
been pretty quiet, lately. Did I scare everybody off, or is everybody been
  NEO'd?

Is it time for the DCC/non-DCC discussion again?
